In most cases, if you are a regular full-time or part-time UnitedHealth Group employee, you are eligible to receive an employee referral bonus for referring external candidates for open positions. The candidate must be hired for a regular (not temporary) full-time or part-time position. Some exceptions apply. For details about eligibility, visit the policy page.

The “One-Year Referrer Rights” rule automatically links you to your referred candidate for one year. After one year has passed, another employee is able to refer the candidate. For further information please visit the Employee Referral Program page on Sparq.

To make a general referral, click here and follow the requested steps to add the information needed for your referral. To refer a friend for a specific position, search our current opportunities to find a good fit for your friend. When you find it, click on the Job Title to see details about the position and then click on the Refer a Friend button. Once you submit your referral in the system, you will receive an email confirmation that your referral was received.

Your referred friend will receive an e-mail acknowledging them of your referral and asking them to complete their profile in our system. Make sure your referral follows that link for next steps – it is the only way your friend is connected to your referral.
You can check the status of your referral at any point in time utilizing the “My Dashboard” link.

If your referral has accepted a position at UnitedHealth Group, you’ll often receive your bonus 30 days after the referred candidate has started employment. For questions on why you haven’t received your referral bonus, please submit an online ticket or call Employee Center. 

India and Philippines employees: Your referral bonus will be paid within the payout guidelines for your location, contingent upon program eligibility as noted on the Employee Referral Policy document.
